According to Japanese legend, ONAMAZU is a giant catfish who dwells in the murky depths beneath the islands of Japan causing massive earthquakes. The god Kashima guards him with a watchful eye, restraining him with a stone. When Kashima lets his guard fall, ONAMAZU thrashes about, causing violent earthquakes.
